Our Mission

Life's Medicine was born out of a genuine passion for helping people. Dr. Lopez is a board certified family practice physician and has focused her medical career on common endocrine and medical conditions as well as weight loss.

Life's Medicine FAQ'S

At Life's Medicine we try to help our patients live their best life. Dr. Lopez will do this by taking a practical approach to medicine. Whether managing medical problems, weight issues, thyroid dysfunction or life circumstances we help our patients live a full life.

Life's Medicine is a highly attentive medical practice that focuses on making you better. Whether addressing high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid issues, fatigue, insomnia, weight or athletic performance issues each patient gets the attention they need and deserve.

Doctors have a desire to help their patients. It has been our experience that insurance makes it difficult to build a well-rounded practice. Life's Medicine is a fee for service practice allowing Dr. Lopez to spend significantly more time with her patients, i.e. being highly attentive. Dr. Lopez will limit the number of patients in order to spend the time the patient needs. This allows time to really listen to patients and take into account what they're feeling, what their lives are like and how they take care of themselves. These factors affect their overall health. Dr. Lopez won't shove them into some pre-determined diagnosis and ignore obvious signs or symptoms, as her goal is to have each patient leave their appointment excited, optimistic and hopeful about their future health.

This is not your conventional medical practice. Dr, Lopez is not contracted with health insurances but can bill insurances for ancillary services (labs). Dr. Lopez is dedicated and committed to helping her patients reach their goals. Dr. Lopez invests in her patients so they can invest in themselves and see ample returns! Living a full and optimal life is good medicine, come get it!

To B or not to B?

"Without a doubt we all should all be taking some type of multivitamin, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Co Q10, Vitamin C and Complex B Vitamins daily.  But if you had to choose, the single most important one would have to be Vitamin B12!

Which are you? The over-exerciser or the under-eater? Yes, there is such a thing. I know, I know, you though it was just something your high priced trainer was telling you to explain why his training has not given you any high priced results. The truth of the matter is, he is probably right. I don't care how much cardio, lunges, chest presses or crunches you do, if you are not eating right and enough, you will not see results . In the words of my father, "lemme splain"……

In today's economic climate most of us have felt the pinch of our country's current financial embarrassment (with the exception of those privileged few that caused this disaster and where fortunate enough to be bailed out!). Any situation that makes you feel uncomfortable causes stress in your body. Emotional, physical and mental uneasiness are triggers. Stress can be a ticking bomb that wreaks havoc on your body if not dismantled properly. Everybody handles stress a little differently. Some of us drink fermented liquids, some of us eat, some of us lose sleep. When stress is not managed properly (and surprisingly, eating and drinking your feelings is not a good option) your body is at risk for certain maladies. My father used to say "Mija, in life you gonna have estress….. that's life". He is right, we will always have stress, it 's how you handle it that can make all the difference. Lemme splain…..

How many of you have been to your doctor absolutely convinced that you are having symptoms consistent with an underactive thyroid (thanks to your extensive internet research)? You have fatigue, weight issues, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, hair thinning, dry skin and an indifference to life among other symptoms. How could it not be your thyroid? You get your blood checked and your doctor tells you "it's not your thyroid the number is within normal range". You leave there feeling completely hopeless. "I must just be getting old", you tell yourself. Well guess what? It could definitely be your thyroid!! What most primary care doctors do not realize is that the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) has narrowed the parameters of the normal range and now patients who results looked normal before now are considered HYPOTHYROID! Woo hoo!!!!! Lemme splain……

  • Family Health - Why are we so fat?

There is so much information out there about the right way to eat. Should we eat low fat, low carb or high protein? We are fatter than ever and it only seems to be getting worse. Why with so much information out there do we continue to tip the scales? I will tell you why, because it is misinformation and we are so so confused!! The original USDA food pyramid had us eating approximately 60% carbs, 20%protein and 20% fat. That pyramid was based on the notion that fat in the diet directly correlated to elevated cholesterol( which by the way is complete bologna).

  • Fat-Free vs. Sugar-free

Which is better? Working at a weight loss clinic I get that question a lot. So I thought I would spend a little time explaining the difference. I personally am on Team Sugar Free. Some may argue that it is better to be on Team Low Fat. I actually was on that team myself until I began to research and truly understand the difference between the two and how it affects the body. Now I am sugar free all the way. Lemme splain……….
